Lake Ohau Lodge is an iconic 72 room NZ high country lodge on the shores of Lake Ohau in the Southern Alps.   We are a medium to large family run business catering for tours and functions over summer and skiers and snowboarders over winter. Lake Ohau Lodge is unique in its style and we pride ourselves on our hospitality and amazing food. We are seemingly remote but in a beautiful location so these positions will suit someone who enjoys the outdoors and working in a fun and happy environment. If your R&R pleasures include skiing or snowboarding, bush and mountain walking/tramping, rock climbing, fishing, and mountain biking this may be for you.

SUMMER 2019/20 We will be looking for the following staff starting late September

HEAD CHEF (Permanent position, starting immediately):  Lake Ohau is a beautiful place to live.  We are looking for a hands on creative Head Chef, someone with a passion for creating beautiful food who will maintain a happy team environment by inspiring and motivating the team.  You would work alongside & oversee the day to day running of the kitchen, manage the Food Control plan, manage the food costs and meet budgets, order and maintain stock levels and rotation and maintain our high standard of presentation and excellent food.  We would expect you to start working with the menus that we have in place and then in consultation, develop what we offer.  Ideally we are looking for someone with experience in NZ who has worked in a similar role.  Accommodation and all meals provided at around $200/week and there is the option for couple accommodation locally.

RECEPTIONIST (Permanent position, starting immediately): We are looking for a friendly and competent person with hotel reservations experience, someone who makes a good first impression, is welcoming, happy & efficient and who will also fit in with our existing team.  The successful applicant will have excellent computer skills and experience and in particular with:

- Hotel systems with booking, invoicing and POS systems

- Microsoft office, especially word processing, spreadsheet and outlook

Ideally you will have had some hospitality experience, accounting skills and in particular takings reconciliation experience.  

The position requires you to manage the RHS booking system, answer the phone, reply to emails, take bookings, prepare bills and reconcile takings.  You will also liaise with the restaurant and kitchen and will be required to assist in the restaurant or bar.

Wage rate offered will depend on skills and experience.  

2 x BAR STAFF - We have a busy bar here at Ohau, serving a range of people from young & older people on tours, cyclists on the Alps2ocean cycle trail, weddings and birthday parties.  You would be asked to wine wait on tables as well as serving drinks in the bar.  We would prefer someone who has their Manager's certificate otherwise we will support you in gaining this. 

2 x HOUSEKEEPERS - Come and be part of a happy, hardworking team here this summer.  There's a lot of satisfaction gained in leaving a clean, beautiful room and working with a fun team.

2 x WAITRESSES - We have a busy summer coming up and looking for experienced wait staff to be part of our fantastic team.  Typically you work either a split shift or a straight shift that would include working over the lunch period.  We look for people who take pride in giving friendly service and who enjoy people.

Ohau Snow Fields Employment

Ohau Snow Fields is the original NZ high country boutique snow and ski field situated in the Southern Alps south of Mt Cook. Ohau has a double chair lift, a platter and a snow mat.
