With the 2012 winter ski season fast approaching, Lake Ohau has the following job opportunities and positions available, for both the Lodge and the Snow Fields.
Lake Ohau Lodge Employment
Lake Ohau Lodge is an iconic 72 room NZ high country lodge on the shores of Lake Ohau in the Southern Alps, a medium to large wilderness lodge catering for tours and functions over summer and skiers and snowboarders over winter.
For the 2012 season, the Lodge job opportunities we have available are:
Waitress
Lake Ohau is a family run business. It is unique in it’s style and we pride ourselves on our hospitality.
Lake Ohau Lodge is seeking a waitress to start in early May and work through the winter season.
We are looking for someone with restaurant and barista experience who will fit in with the existing team. The successful applicant is required to wait tables, do dishes, make coffee, clean restaurant, set tables and could be asked to help in other areas.
We are seemingly remote but in a beautiful location so this position will suit someone who enjoys the outdoors.
We offer $13.50/hr with accommodation and meals provided @ $100/wk.
Bar Person
We are looking for a Bar Person for the winter season starting in June.
We require a competent and responsible person with previous bar experience, who can make espresso coffee and has a NZ General Managers Certificate. You would be required to work 5-6 days per week. Accommodation is provided and the wage offered for this job vacancy will depend on experience.

Ohau Snow Fields Ski Employment
Ohau Snow Fields is the original NZ high country boutique snow and ski field situated in the Southern Alps south of Mt Cook. Ohau has a double chair lift, a platter and a snow mat.
For the 2012 ski season, the job opportunities we have available are:
Maintenance Person
We are seeking a person to join our small ski team who has experience in snow field maintenance and in particular lift and diesel motor maitenance and possibly is an experienced grader operator in clearing snow field roads. This summer, 2012-13 it is intended to install the 2nd Peak Chairlift and although in the first place this is a seasonal position we are seeking a person who would consider a 10-18 month contract to assist with this installation. The position would suit someone who would enjoy living and working in our magnificent New Zealand high country. The wage rate offered for this job vacancy is subject to experience and is negotiable.
Groomer Operator
The job requires operating PB240 and PB200W groomers on the snow field and on occasions clearing snow on the ski area access road. Typically you will be required to work from 4pm in the afternoons until grooming is finished, 4-10 hours. You will also be required to work morning shifts after a snowfall or when the snow is better suited for grooming early morning. Ohau is a small snowfield operation and as such you may also be required to help when needed with sundry jobs such as maintenance, snowmaking, rental, snow clearing etc. It is also expected that you will be required while grooming to check and monitor the Techno Alpin snow making operation. The wage rate offered for this job vacancy is subject to experience and is negotiable.
2IC Patroller
We are seeking a fully qualified and experienced 2IC patroller. The applicant is required to hold Pre-hospital and Emergency Care and Avalanche Safety Management Stage 2 qualifications or overseas equivalent and have at least 3-5 years experience preferably in New Zealand and/or overseas. This is a seasonal position. The wage rate offered for this job is subject to experience and is negotiable.
Instructor / Patroller
We are seeking a person who has both an instructor qualification and a first level snow control qualification and experience. This person would be expected to normally be instructing and on control days make up the fourth person in the control work. This is a seasonal position for the ski season. The wage rate offered for this job is subject to experience and is negotiable.
Ticket Office
We are looking for someone to be "the face" of Ohau Snow Fields this winter for the ski season. You are the first person that the public deals with so you must be friendly and efficient. Retail experience using point of sale systems is required, a knowledge of skiing or snowboarding is important and previous experience is preferred. This is a seasonal position. The wage rate offered for this job is subject to experience and is negotiable.
